Overview
Course Description
Understanding Derivatives and Hedging Strategies:
Have you heard about hedging before but you’re not really sure what it means or includes? Have you ever wondered how the derivatives that you have studied in theory are being utilized in real life? Or would you like to learn more about derivatives in general? If so, then this course is meant for you!
In this course, we will cover a thorough theoretical overview of derivatives. You will learn what derivatives there are in the market and how they can be used in practice. Following this, we will discuss hedging; what is it exactly and how hedging can be achieved.
During this course, you will not only master derivatives and hedging, but you will also learn to work with financial statements and read them properly. By combining your knowledge of derivatives, hedging, and financial statements, you will be able to recommend appropriate actions for problems that companies face on a daily basis. Combining these three topics in this course will give you real hands-on experience framed by various examples and cases.
In addition to this, we will briefly look at how large corporates make decisions and what dilemmas they face. You will get a closer look at the interaction between banks and the treasury departments of companies.
The course will give you practical experience in the workings of this intriguing industry and provide you with knowledge which may be useful in the next phase of your (academic) career. This is an online course that includes approximately 18 hours of online classes.
